Bioengineering Breakthroughs: The Role of 3D Bioprinting in Organ Transplantation
Abstract
The shortage of donor organs has led to significant advancements in 3D bioprinting for regenerative medicine. This paper explores how bioengineered tissues and organs are revolutionizing transplantation by reducing dependency on donors. Through case studies on bioprinting applications in liver, kidney, and heart tissues, the study highlights innovations in biomaterials and stem cell research. Challenges such as vascularization, biocompatibility, and regulatory approval are examined. The findings emphasize the potential of 3D bioprinting to address global healthcare challenges and pave the way for fully functional organ replacement solutions.
