Deep Learning for Real-Time Face Mask Detection in Public Spaces

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of mask-wearing for public health. This paper presents a real-time face mask detection system using deep learning, designed to operate in public spaces like airports, malls, and public transport. A CNN-based model is trained to classify individuals as wearing a mask or not based on facial features captured by surveillance cameras. The system achieves high accuracy and is optimized for real-time performance, making it a valuable tool for ensuring compliance with health guidelines in crowded public areas.
